Finally Some Pictures! Pt. 1

These are a mixture of pictures from my first trip to Africa. Anything that looks fairly like a desert is most likely when we were in Namibia, and anything that looks fairly lush and green is most likely South Africa near Cape Town.

SCI Los Angeles Fundraiser – Festival of the Hunt

It’s that time of the year again! These are always great events with Safari Club International and I always meet and talk to so many wonderful people here. They had firearms galore to raffle off along with everything from trips to gadgets. I decided not to try my hand at any of these additional expenses only because I need to be saving for my upcoming trip.

As always I went with my Aunt and Great Uncle. We had a wonderful time together and they are always happy to introduce me to some of their long time friends I have never met before, which is always a pleasure.

I am entirely humbled by the idea of being able to help guide some friends and close ones hunting trips in the near future to South Africa & Zimbabwe. This is my honor and I only hope I can come through for them in the most respectable way.  It is not every day you can meet good people here on the West Coast of the United States and soon meet up with them mathematically on the opposite side of the world!

Best wishes to us all!

T-Minus Nine Days and Counting…

As happy and relieved as I am to wake up casually every morning,  my day is really, mostly one long anxiety festival, haha.  It’s flooded with calls and emails and organizing and packing. I’m sure glad I saved a bit of money up because all the equipment and everything else is adding up EXTREMELY fast dollar wise.

I’ve had several great parties with both sides of my family, some friends and one with my Safari Club International comrades and my buddies from the range. They have all been spectacular and it was good to ensure seeing everyone one last time. And boy does my Great Uncle cook the best BBQ turkey in town! I hope I can compete with those skills one day.

I believe I have secured my purchases on my hunting rifle and my laptop so far. Both will get to me within days (if I’m lucky) of leaving. I also managed to squeeze in one last eye doctor appointment. I am happy to report my eye sight is pretty good and the even better news is my right eye (my sighting eye) is even sharper.

Tonight is going to be an awesome dinner at a good steak house with the “Pops”. I figured we better have one last Hoorah before I ship out. I’ve been starving myself for the last bit of this day so I can go to town on a nice juicy beef steak  <grins>  It might be a while till I get another. I’ve also made it a point to get my fill of Mexican food, because they sure as heck don’t have that out in Africa!!! Same with Martini’s!

Mmmmm… Cheers!
