T-Minus Nine Days and Counting…

As happy and relieved as I am to wake up casually every morning,  my day is really, mostly one long anxiety festival, haha.  It’s flooded with calls and emails and organizing and packing. I’m sure glad I saved a bit of money up because all the equipment and everything else is adding up EXTREMELY fast dollar wise.

I’ve had several great parties with both sides of my family, some friends and one with my Safari Club International comrades and my buddies from the range. They have all been spectacular and it was good to ensure seeing everyone one last time. And boy does my Great Uncle cook the best BBQ turkey in town! I hope I can compete with those skills one day.

I believe I have secured my purchases on my hunting rifle and my laptop so far. Both will get to me within days (if I’m lucky) of leaving. I also managed to squeeze in one last eye doctor appointment. I am happy to report my eye sight is pretty good and the even better news is my right eye (my sighting eye) is even sharper.

Tonight is going to be an awesome dinner at a good steak house with the “Pops”. I figured we better have one last Hoorah before I ship out. I’ve been starving myself for the last bit of this day so I can go to town on a nice juicy beef steak  <grins>  It might be a while till I get another. I’ve also made it a point to get my fill of Mexican food, because they sure as heck don’t have that out in Africa!!! Same with Martini’s!

Mmmmm… Cheers!

  1. I can’t even imagine how much work it is packing for something like this… cuz you’re not really going on a vacation, you’re MOVING!

    • Yes, except I have to fit everything into 2 bags and some carry-on luggage!!! lol
At this point I have resigned to my probable fate of paying some hefty fees for overweight baggage.

  2. Oh man, no mexican food?! I’d die without a good taco. But I’m sure there will be something just as good, if not better, there.

  3. Glad you got to the dark continent safely and hope you have a good and meaningful experience. Just don’t come back and look at Herman and Eddie as you would a springbok. I am enjoying the cigars and rum!!!

    • Well well well… if it isn’t Knuckle Bangin’ Phil! Haha!
No worries, I am into the thrill of the stalk and all they do is lay there… Where’s the challenge in that? lol just kidding.
I’m glad you are enjoying those cigars!
